Activities in PragueIndividual Sights in PragueSight 1: Nová libeňská synagoga
The New Libeň Synagogue is located in Prague 8 at the Palmovka crossroads. Today, it is sporadically used for cultural purposes, several times a year it is used by members of the Prague Jewish community, mainly by the Czech Union of Jewish Youth, for its original purpose, i.e. for worship, most recently for the celebration of the Passover holiday in the spring of 2019/5779.
Sight 2: Divadlo pod Palmovkou
Palmovka Theatre, also known as the Theatre S. K. Neumann and the Urban and Regional Theatre, is a classic drama theatre located in the Prague district of Libeň at the bottom of Zenklova street in Prague near the intersection and subway station Palmovka. In addition to the main stage it has the attic theatre, a small studio theatre for more intimate performances.
Sight 3: Primátor Jan Podlipný
Jan Podlipný was a Prague lawyer, mayor of Prague (1897–1900) and member of the Czech Provincial Assembly for the Young Czech Party, the first mayor of the Czech Sokol Community (1889–1906). He organized the Collection of Laws concerning the state law of the Kingdom of Bohemia (1882) and was also the executive director of the Lawyers' Union. He was a man of rare character and noble morals. His wife was an important official of the association, Anna Podlipná.
Sight 4: Löwitův mlýn
The Great Mill, later called Löwit's Mill, is a historical building and cultural monument located in the Thomayer Gardens in Prague-Libeň near Rokytka below the Libeň Chateau west of Elsnic Square. The current appearance of the building dates back to 1747. In 2002, the mill was damaged by a great flood and since then it has been waiting for reconstruction and further use.
Sight 5: svatý Vojtěch
The Church of St. Adalbert in Prague 8-Libeň is a wooden Art Nouveau sacral building from 1904 to 1905 by architect Emil Králíček, who worked in the design office of builder Matěj Blecha. It currently serves the Roman Catholic Church and is a parish church. The church is located in the immediate vicinity of the Libeň Sokol Hall in U Meteoru Street.
