Öbackaparken is a green area by the Ume River in Umeå, which stretches from the Arts Campus just south of the city centre to the bend of the river southwest of the hospital area – opposite the island. Parts of the park, like the residential area of Öbacka, were an industrial area during the first half of the 1900s.

It is named after the General Georg Carl von Döbeln, and his monument was placed in the park in 1867. This park should not be confused with "Döbelns plan" which is a smaller communal area elsewhere further west in the city.

Standing Man is a bronze sculpture painted with oil paint, created by British artist Sean Henry. The work was erected in 2007 for an exhibition at Galleri Andersson/Sandström at Umedalen in Umeå. After the exhibition, which received a lot of attention, the gallery offered to temporarily and free of charge expose the work on Rådhustorget in central Umeå for a few summer months. In the autumn of the same year, the Cultural Committee in Umeå decided to buy the work for SEK 810,000, for permanent placement at the square.

Sight 9: Line of thoughts

Line of Thoughts is a bronze sculpture in Umeå, Sweden, created by the British artist Tony Cragg. The work was erected in 2003 on the northern bank of the Ume River next to the Strömpilen shopping area, which at the time was owned by the Baltic Group, which also commissioned and owns the sculpture. In the autumn of 2019, at the owner's request, the sculpture was moved to Varvsparken on Teg, on the south side of the river.
