Sight 1: Kabouterdorp

The Gnome Village is part of the Fairytale Forest in Efteling. The Gnome Village consists of a number of village houses in the shape of mushrooms where the daily life of the gnomes is depicted. It was opened at the same time as the amusement park itself on May 31, 1952 and was expanded in 1972, 1974 and 1980. The village was largely designed by Anton Pieck. The later designs of the extensions are based on designs by Ton van de Ven and Henny Knoet. The gnome village is the second fairy tale on the route in the Fairytale Forest and is located between Sleeping Beauty and Long Neck.
