The former Kilian's Chapel was built between 1180 and 1200 in Romanesque style as a market chapel of the parish of St. Martin in Oberweimar. The chapel with the patronage of St. Kilian is thus the oldest surviving building in Marburg's core city, located on the shoe market on Reitgasse in Marburg's upper town, not far from the Old University.
