Individual Sights in GeraSight 1: Stadtmuseum
The City Museum is one of four municipal museums in the city of Gera. It deals with the history of the city. It is located at Museumsplatz 1, in the building of the former prison and orphanage – right in the centre of the city.
Sight 2: Sparkasse Gera-Greiz
Handelshof is the historical name for the oldest high-rise building in the city of Gera in Thuringia; today the headquarters of the Sparkasse Gera-Greiz. The listed office and commercial building consists of the high-rise tower on the street corner, a five-storey side wing on Schloßstraße and a four-storey side wing on Dr.-Eckener-Straße.
Sight 3: Gedenk- und Begegnungsstätte im Torhaus der politischen Haftanstalt
The Amthordurchgang Memorial in Gera is a place of remembrance for the victims of both German dictatorships and an important point of contact for communication, information and documentation.
Sight 4: St. Johanniskirche Gera
St. John's Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Gera, Germany. It is the largest church in the city and has a 70-metre-high steeple.
Sight 5: Villa Späthe/Villa Adelheid
The Villa Späthe, today Villa Adelheid, is part of the ensemble of listed villas that characterize the cityscape of Gera. It was built in 1910 on the property at Berliner Straße 1 and is flanked by the Villa Meyer and the Villa Schellig-Lubold.
Sight 6: Bühne am Park
The Gera Theatre belongs to the Altenburg Gera Theatre and is Thuringia's only five-genre theatre. The main venue and one of three theatre buildings in this city is the Great House. It has a theatre hall with 552 seats, a concert hall with 812 seats and a small venue, the "Bühne am Park", with 141 seats. The management consists of Kay Kuntze and Volker Arnold.
Sight 7: Küchengarten
The Küchengarten is a park in Gera, Germany. It is located between the orangery and the theatre and was redesigned into a baroque pleasure garden in the run-up to the 2007 Federal Garden Show.
Sight 8: Orangerie
The Orangery is a Baroque building in Gera. It forms the western end of the kitchen garden in the Untermhaus district. Since 1972, it has housed the Gera Art Collection, of which it forms the foundation. Since 1991, it has also used the Otto Dix House as a second exhibition building.
Sight 9: Villa Jahr
Villa Jahr is a villa in the north of the Heinrichsgrün district of Gera, near the left bank of the White Elster.
