Individual Sights in EisenachSight 1: Verfluchtes Jungfernloch
Das verfluchte Jungfernloch is a small rock cave on the eastern slope of a hill overlooking the Kälbergrund Valley in Eisenach, Germany, roughly 500m south of the Wartburg.
Sight 2: Eisenacher Burg
Eisenach Castle is an abandoned medieval hilltop castle complex at 385 m above sea level. The ground monument is located in the city of Eisenach, on the wooded hill of the same name, about 500 m south of the Wartburg.
Sight 3: Cranach-Denkmal
The Cranach monument on Wartburgallee, below the Wartburg in the south district of Eisenach, is reminiscent of Hans Lucas von Cranach (1855–1929), an important sponsor of the Eisenach culture, co-founder of the Wartburg Foundation, the Thuringian Museum and the Reuter-Wagner-Museum . He was an ordonnance officer of the Grand Duke of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach, Carl-Alexander and initially in his service from 1894 to 1929 Castle captain of the Wartburg.
Sight 4: Wartburg
The Wartburg is a castle originally built in the Middle Ages. It is situated on a precipice of 410 metres (1,350 ft) to the southwest of and overlooking the town of Eisenach, in the state of Thuringia, Germany. It was the home of St. Elisabeth of Hungary, the place where Martin Luther translated the New Testament of the Bible into German, the site of the Wartburg festival of 1817 and the supposed setting for the possibly legendary Sängerkrieg. It was an important inspiration for Ludwig II when he decided to build Neuschwanstein Castle.
Sight 5: Metilstein
The Metilstein, also known as the Mädelstein, is the 365 m high local mountain of Eisenach and located above the old town. On its hilltop, the ruins of Metilstein Castle have been preserved. Metilstein Castle was a medieval hilltop castle and fortification and is protected as a ground monument. The name "Metilstein" is said to be derived from "Mittelstein".
Sight 6: Wingolfsdenkmal
The Wingolf Monument, located on the Pfarrberg in the centre of Eisenach, is the central place of remembrance for the fallen of the Wingolfsbund, the oldest umbrella organisation of Christian student fraternities. Originally built to commemorate the fallen brothers in the German-French War of 1870/71, it now also commemorates the victims of the two world wars. In 2003, the monument, including the staircase, was extensively renovated.
Sight 7: Georgenkirche
St. George's Church is the city and main church of Eisenach, centrally located in the southern area of the market. Martin Luther preached here during the Reformation, making it one of the oldest Protestant places of worship in the world. Johann Sebastian Bach was baptized in it. It served temporarily as a court church and was the episcopal church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Thuringia until the merger of the Protestant church provinces of Saxony and Thuringia into the Evangelical Church in Central Germany on 1 January 2009.
Sight 8: Alte Residenz
The Royal Palace was a building in the old town of Eisenach, which was largely demolished in the 18th century. The surviving parts are now known as the Old Residence and Residence House and are listed as historical monuments. The castle was located on the southern edge of the Eisenach market, immediately south of St. George's Church.
Sight 9: Schwarzer Brunnen
The Black Fountain in the Wartburg town of Eisenach is a running fountain built in 1817 and a monument to the city's history. It commemorates the gunpowder explosion that took place here on the evening of September 1, 1810.

The Georgsbrunnen (also known as the "Gülden-Manns-Brunnen" – is a running fountain built in 1549 in the Wartburg town of Eisenach in Thuringia, Germany. It commemorates the city's patron saint, St. George, and in the late Middle Ages was also a symbol of the city's market jurisdiction.
Sight 13: Stadtschloss Eisenach
The Eisenach city palace is a castle on the north side of the market square of the city of Eisenach in Thuringia. It was a residence of the Dukes of Saxony-Eisenach and later a residence of the Grand Derelus of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach. Today, offices of the city administration (Kulturamt), the Eisenach City Archives and the Thuringian Museum have been housed since 1931.

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Elisabeth is located in Eisenach in the Wartburgkreis district of Thuringia, Germany. It is the parish church of the parish of St. Elisabeth Eisenach in the deanery of Meiningen in the diocese of Erfurt. It bears the patronage of St. Elisabeth of Thuringia.
Sight 15: Ärztedenkmal
The Doctors' Monument in Eisenach was erected in 1926 in memory of the German doctors who died in the First World War. In 1997, on the occasion of the 100th German Medical Congress, it was reconstructed in Eisenach and is now dedicated by the German Medical Association to "all doctors who have been victims of war, terror and tyranny in the exercise of their profession".
Sight 16: Lutherdenkmal
The Luther monument in Eisenach on Karlsplatz was inaugurated in 1895. The monument honours the reformer Martin Luther, who stayed at Wartburg Castle near Eisenach from 1521 to 1522. It was created by the sculptor Adolf von Donndorf.
Sight 17: Gedenkstätte Goldener Löwe
The Golden Lion Memorial commemorates the founding congress of the Social Democratic Workers' Party (SDAP) in Eisenach in 1869.

The Charterhouse Garden Eisenach is the oldest botanical garden in the Wartburg town of Eisenach and is now located in the listed villa area of the southern part of the city.
Sight 20: Villa Pflugensberg
The Villa auf dem Pflugensberg is a listed villa in the centre of the city of Eisenach in Thuringia. Until 2008, it was the seat of the State Church Office of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia.
