It today serves as co-cathedral of the Diocese of Grenoble-Vienne. The present-day building, erected from 1130 onwards, was classified a French national heritage site in the list of historic monuments of 1840.

Only a unique remains visible today, commonly known as the Pyramid of Vienna, and locally simply "the Pyramid" or "the Tomb of Pilate". It is the only ancient Egyptian monument that remains standing in France.
