Fort 7 is a fort located in Wilrijk and part of the Brialmont belt built under Henri Alexis Brialmont. Construction began in 1859 and was completed in 1864. The fort is built with beautiful masonry and decorations in natural stone. It also has some original brick and concrete hollow beams.

Conscience fought as a Belgian revolutionary in 1830 and was a notable writer in the Romanticist style popular in the early 19th century. He is best known for his romantic nationalist novel, The Lion of Flanders (1838), inspired by the victory of a Flemish peasant militia over French knights at the 1302 Battle of the Golden Spurs during the Franco-Flemish War.

Fort 8 is a fort located in Hoboken and part of the Brialmont belt built under Henri Alexis Brialmont. The fort occupies almost the entire southern side of Hoboken. It is one of the most authentic and best preserved Brialmont forts because it was never reinforced or modernized with concrete.
