The puppet theatre is run as a private theatre. The two founders and artistic directors, Christine Hierzer-Riedler and Werner Hierzer, look back on more than 40 years of international experience in the art of puppetry. Playing with marionettes has a long tradition at Schönbrunn. Even during Mozart's lifetime, the puppet theatre founded by Prince Esterházy played here at the invitation of Empress Maria Theresa.
