The Tarraco Circus was located within the city's pomerium, taking advantage of land that, since the founding era, had been state-owned. The Balcó del Mediterrani is a cliff 23 m high in altitude at the end of Tarragona's Rambla Nova touching the sea, protected by a beautiful iron railing. Opposite is the monument to the Catalan navigator Roger de Llúria. From the balcony there is a magnificent view over the sea, the port, the train station, the amphitheater, the beach and the Miracle Point, and a part of the city. The people of Tarragona, when they walk along La Rambla, say that they go "to touch iron" to the Balcó.
