Individual Sights in CáceresSight 1: Santiago Church
The church of Santiago de los Caballeros is a Roman Catholic parish church of medieval origin located in the Spanish city of Cáceres. It belongs to the neighbourhood of Santiago, to which it gives its name, within the Centro-Casco Antiguo district, and is part of the historical heritage of the Extramuros de Cáceres.
Sight 2: Torre de Bujaco
Emblem of Cáceres and more striking construction in the Plaza Mayor, the Bujaco Tower is protecting the northwest flank of the monumental city of Cacereña. The current name of the tower is a modern denomination, perhaps from the Caliph Abu Yqub, builder of the tower. From there it is considered that the name is coming, although other authors consider it more likely to relate it to the word buhaco, straw doll and rag of the area, which was used to refer to the statue of the androgynous genius, placed in the upper part of the Tower between 1820 and 1962.
