The Barracks of the Spanish and Walloon Royal Guards are two almost identical neoclassical constructions built on the royal sites of Aranjuez, south of Madrid, by the French architect Jaime Marquet between 1770 and 1772. Its function was to host the Royal Guards of Corps protagonists of the Royal Days, military parades whose purpose was to promote the power of the absolute monarchy in the common people. Both constructions are located on both sides of the central axis of a pentadent that originally structured the Raso de la Estrella, a garden located at the foot of the main façade of the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, where these parades took place. They are currently in a deplorable state of conservation.
