It is dedicated to São Crispim and St. Crispinian, and was built in 1878 to replace the original chapel, as well as the Annex Hospital and hostel of existing pilgrims since the fourteenth century and which were located at Rua das Congosas (current Rua Mousinho da Silveira, demolished on the occasion to open that artery.

The Church of Nossa Senhora da Lapa is a Roman Catholic church in Porto, Portugal, dedicated to Our Lady of Lapa. The church was built by the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Lapa, established in 1755, and is part of a building complex that includes the Lapa cemetery, the Brotherhood's primary school and the Lapa Brotherhood Hospital. In the chancel is buried the heart of King Pedro IV of Portugal, donated in his will to the brotherhood.
