The post-monastery complex of the Franciscans in Nowy Sącz was established in 1297 by the grant of Wenceslaus II. In the center of the plot there was the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, surrounded by many chapels. One of them was the Chapel of the Transfiguration. It was expanded to its present form from the foundation of the starost of Nowy Sącz - Konstanty Lubomirski and took place in the years 1654-1672. The present Evangelical church has a distinct three-part layout, and the entire architectural composition is maintained in the Baroque style. In the chapel there is a tombstone of Jan Dobek Łowczowski, who was the founder of one of the chapels that have not survived. There is a crypt under the chapel. Since 1800, the chapel has been owned by the Evangelical-Augsburg parish in Nowy Sącz.
