Sight 5: Torito de Pucará
The Torito de Pucará is a piece of pottery characteristic of the district of Pucará, in the province of Lampa in the Peruvian department of Puno. Its origin was in Checca Pupuja, in the district of José Domingo Choquehuanca in the province of Azángaro in the department of Puno. Traditionally they were sold at the train station called Pucará that passes through the José Domingo Choquehuanca district, and were used in marking ceremonies and for the procreation of livestock, protection, happiness and fertility in married life. This ceramic piece has become a symbol of Peru's southern Andean identity.
