The Stadsschouwburg is the largest theater building in the Dutch city of Utrecht. Designed in 1937 by the well -known architect Willem Dudok. The building is on the Lucasbolwerk, on the edge of the Utrecht city center. The Stadsschouwburg was opened on 3 September 1941 and then housed the Esplanade restaurant. The building was recognized around 2009 as a national monument after nomination in 2007 on the top 100 Dutch monuments 1940-1958.
