Sight 1: De Goudse Schouwburg

The Goudse Schouwburg is a theatre in the Dutch city of Gouda. The current theatre on the Boelekade from 1992 was designed by AGS Architects and Planners, J. Paré from Heerlen. The interior is by T. van Bergen from Delft. The theatre consists of a large auditorium with two semicircular balconies and 813 seats, a small auditorium with 232 seats and a 24-metre-high stage tower with a light ornament by Margot Zandstra. In 1994 the theatre received the Architecture Award of the city of Gouda, a public award. In 2011, the Goudse Schouwburg was named Theatre of the Year by the Association of Free Theatre Producers. In 2016 and 2017 it won the election of 'The most hospitable theatre in the Netherlands'.
