HNLMS Schorpioen

HNLMS Schorpioen is a Schorpioen-class monitor built in France for the Royal Netherlands Navy in the 1860s. These new ships were equipped with heavy rifled 23 cm (9 in) guns, and a heavy armor. The hull had an armor plated belt of 15 cm (6 in) and the gun turret, housing the two guns, had almost 30 cm (12 in) of armor.

The Dutch lightship Texel was built in 1951 by the Rijkswerf Willemsoord in Den Helder. The ship was in service from 30 September 1952 to early 1992. Since 1996, the lightship has been moored as a museum ship in the museum harbour of Willemsoord. It is managed by the Foundation for the History of Coastal Lighting under the name Museum Lichtschip Texel.

The National Monument for the Rescue Being is a memorial on the heroes of the Zeeplein in the Dutch city of Den Helder. The monument consists of a needle with a carillon and around it a park with a bust of Prince Hendrik. It was designed by P.L. Kramer, parts are made by Th.A. Vos, J.C. Schultsz and G.J. Van der Veen. The needle and the sculptures are in the style of the Amsterdam School.
