It was built in Hirosaki City in 1904 (Meiji 37) as the head office of the 59th National Bank, and has been preserved and open to the public as a memorial hall of the bank since 1967 (Showa 42). On May 15, 1972 (Showa 47), it was designated as an important cultural property of Japan.
