The parish church of San Giorgio dates back to the thirteenth century and is located in the square of the same name in the center of Varenna. Built on a pre-existing building of the twelfth century and reworked in later times, it was rediscovered after some restorations in the second half of the twentieth century as an example of medieval Lombard architecture. Today it has a Gothic architectural structure, recognizable above all inside the building divided into three naves with cross vaults.
