The Aeschylus Theater, owned by the municipality, is the oldest in the town of Gela in Sicily. Of nineteenth-century origin, the current building is the result of the renovation carried out in the last decade on the structure already remodeled in the first half of the twentieth century. Closed permanently in 1981, the theater reopened its doors on February 27, 2013.
