Sight 3: ex Casa del Fascio
The Casa del Fascio of Como, also called Palazzo Terragni, is a building located in Como, Italy, in the Piazza del Popolo, considered one of the masterpieces of Italian Modern Architecture. It was designed by Italian architect Giuseppe Terragni (1904-1943) and it was inaugurated in 1936 as the local casa del fascio, i.e. office of the National Fascist Party. After the fall of Fascism in 1945, it was used by the National Liberation Committee Parties and in 1957, it became the headquarters of the local Finance Police, who still occupy it. The building has a square plan and four stories.
Sight 4: Teatro Sociale
Teatro Sociale is a theatre in Como, designed by architect Giuseppe Cusi following a decision by the local nobility that a new one was needed to replace the existing 1764/65 building which was regarded as outdated. The site of the ruined medieval castle, Torre Rotonda, was the chosen location and the Società dei Palchettisti was created by membership subscriptions to fund its creation.
