Rútstún is a field in the western town of Kópavogur in Kársnes and is classified as an outdoor recreation area. On June 17th, the celebrations of the residents of Kópavogur usually take place there. It is named after Finnbogi Rútur Valdimarsson, the first mayor of Kópavogur. At Rútstún you will find the Kópavogur swimming pool.

Sight 3: Gerðarsafn

Gerðarsafn is the art museum of Kópavogur and is located in Hamraborg in Kópavogur. The museum's main emphasis is modern and contemporary. The museum was built in memory of Gerður Helgadóttir, a sculptor who designed, among other things, the windows in Kópavogur church. Around 20 diverse exhibitions are held each year, both domestic and international. There are three exhibition halls in the museum as well as a cafeteria.

The Natural History Museum of Kópavogur was opened in December 1983. To begin with, the institution was located at Digranesvegur 12 but has been moved to Hamraborg 6a, to the same building as the Kópavogur Library. The role of the Natural History Museum is to collect, preserve and exhibit natural artefacts, as well as providing education and research in natural sciences and promoting nature and environmental conservation.

Sight 5: Salurinn

The hall is a specially designed concert hall in the Kópavogur Concert Hall, which is located at Hamraborg 6. The Kópavogur Concert Hall is a part of the Kópavogur Cultural Center. The hall was opened on January 2, 1999 and was the first specially designed concert hall in the country. The hall seats 300 people, 200 in the hall and 100 on the balcony, and the lobby of the hall can also accommodate 300 people. Since opening, an average of 2 to 3 concerts per week have been held in Salurinn and it has also been used for a number of conferences, courses and other events. The architects of the building are Jakob Líndal and Kristján Ásgeirsson. During the design, emphasis was placed on ensuring the best possible acoustics and sought advice from experts. Emphasis was also placed on Icelandic materials in the building, including spruce from Skorradalur on the interior walls of the hall and ground stones from the foundation of the building on the floors.
