The church burned down on June 12, 1984 and was rebuilt by June 1985. Today it belongs to the pastoral care unit Angelbachtal-Hilsbach.

The Evangelical Church in Weiler, a district of the large district town of Sinsheim in the Rhein-Neckar district in northern Baden-Württemberg, was built in 1787 by the Reformed and Lutheran congregations of the village. Previously, the service of both congregations had taken place alternately in the town hall after a Reformed church mentioned in 1572 had been destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. In 1869 the Protestant church was renovated and enlarged.

The elevation, which rises up to 333.4 m above sea level, is the highest in the northern part of the hilly landscape of the Kraichgau, on which stands Steinsberg Castle.
