Individual Sights in MeissenSight 1: St. Afra Kirche
The Augustinian monastery of St. Afra in Meissen was founded in 1205 by Bishop Dietrich II of Kittlitz. In the course of the Reformation, the institution was secularized. In 1543, the first princely and state school in Saxony was founded in the buildings. Furthermore, the former monastery has housed the Evangelical Academy of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony, founded in 1949, since 1991.
Sight 2: Prälatenhaus
The late Gothic prelate house is one of the oldest houses in Meissen and a nationally important architectural monument. With its late Gothic brick gable, it characterises the picturesque western view of the old town and contains important remains of late Gothic wall paintings.
Sight 3: Pfarramt Evangelisch-Lutherische Kirchgemeinde St. Afra Meißen
The house Markt 10 is a baroque residential building in the old town of Meissen and is protected as a cultural monument. The representative baroque building from 1747 was already restored in the 1970s, was inhabited until the 1990s and was renovated until about 2015. After a long period of vacancy, the building was taken over by the St. Afra parish in Meissen and is used as a Christian meeting place. The residential and commercial building shows characteristic design elements of the Baroque period with its staircase, stucco ceilings and roof shape. On the façade are the initials J. G. Böhme and illusionistic plaster mirrors in Baroque style.
Sight 4: Rathaus Meißen
The Meissen Town Hall is a late Gothic building on the market square of the city of Meissen in Saxony. It is the headquarters of the city administration and the only civic secular building that can hold its own in the cityscape next to the church buildings of the old town of Meissen.

The Protestant Frauenkirche in the old town of Meissen is a late Gothic hall church. It belongs to the parish of St. Afra Meissen in the church district of Meißen-Großenhain of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony.
