The Princely Residence Palace of Detmold is located in the city center of Detmold. The castle had its origins in an old castle, which was first mentioned in a document as early as 1366. The castle was the seat of the Counts and Princes of Lippe for centuries and is still inhabited today by the respective head of the House of Lippe.

Sight 2: Erlöserkirche
The Protestant Reformed Church of the Redeemer in Detmold, also known as the Market Church, is a late Gothic church building. It is the only medieval building in the city that has been preserved almost unchanged.

The Martin Luther Church in Detmold in Schülerstraße is a neo-Gothic church building that was consecrated in 1898.
Sight 4: Schmerimenhaus
The Schmerimenhaus is a listed Renaissance building in the city centre of Detmold in the district of Lippe (North Rhine-Westphalia). It was named after the patrician family Schmerimen, who lived here until 1659 and provided the mayor of Detmold from 1592 to 1605 with Johann Schmerimen. Apart from the Detmold farm, the house is the only building with a stonework gable of the Weser Renaissance and the oldest stone town house in the city centre.

St. Bonifatius is the former Catholic parish church in Detmold. The small church is located in the core of the city on the Wallgraben. The church tower is a listed building.

The Lippisches Landesmuseum in Detmold is the largest and oldest museum in East Westphalia-Lippe. The museum, which is supported by the Lippe Regional Association, is located opposite the Princely Residence Palace of the Lords of Lippe and the Lippe State Theatre.
