The Princely Residence Palace of Detmold is located in the city centre of Detmold. The castle had its origins in an old castle, which was first mentioned in a document in 1366. For centuries, the castle was the seat of the Counts and Princes of Lippe and is still inhabited today by the head of the House of Lippe.

The Evangelical Reformed Church of the Redeemer in Detmold, also known as the Market Church, is a late Gothic church building. It is the only medieval building in the city that has been preserved almost unchanged.

Sight 4: Schmerimenhaus
The Schmerimenhaus is a listed Renaissance building in the city centre of Detmold in the district of Lippe (North Rhine-Westphalia). It was named after the patrician Schmerimen family, who lived here until 1659 and from 1592 to 1605 provided the mayor of Detmold with Johann Schmerimen. Apart from the Detmolder Hof, the house is the only building with a stonework gable from the Weser Renaissance and the oldest stone town house in the city centre.
