The Cottbus Chamber of Crafts is one of 53 chambers of crafts in the Federal Republic of Germany and one of three chambers of crafts in the state of Brandenburg. In 1953, the Cottbus Chamber was built by the legislator as a public body for the implementation of self-government tasks in the field of craftsmanship. The monastery church of the former Franciscan monastery in Cottbus, later called "Wendische Church", is the oldest surviving sacred building in the city.
