Individual Sights in BoppardSight 1: Säuerlingsturm
The medieval city fortifications of Boppard were built in the 12th and 13th centuries with the inclusion of the former Roman fort Bodobrica in Boppard. The remains of the city fortifications are now listed as historical monuments.
Sight 2: Karmeliterkirche
The Carmelite Church in Boppard is a monastery church built around 1300, which belonged to the neighboring Carmelite monastery of Boppard, which was the third oldest Carmelite order in Germany. Between 1439 and 1444, the church was extended to the north by a side aisle. This was given window glazing, which is now exhibited in museums in the USA and Europe, among other places. Today, the monastery church belongs to the local parish of St. Severus and is used by it for church services.
Sight 3: St Severus Kirche
The Basilica of St. Severus is a Catholic parish church of the parish of the same name in Boppard. The church, which belongs to the Diocese of Trier, was built in the 12th and 13th centuries in the Rhenish transitional style. The patron saint is St. Severus of Ravenna.
Sight 4: Kastell Boppard
The fort of Boppard was a late Roman military camp on the Rhine Valley Road, whose garrison was responsible for security and surveillance tasks on the "wet" border (ripae) of the Rhine. The complex is now located in the center of Boppard, a town in the Rhein-Hunsrück district, Federal Republic of Germany. The remains of the ancient enclosure are of particular interest for scientific research due to their exceptionally good state of preservation.
Sight 5: Christuskirche
The Christuskirche is a Protestant church built in the 19th century in Boppard. It is the first new Protestant church building in Boppard and was completed in 1851. The parish belongs to the Koblenz church district of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland.
