The Royal Monastery of Brou is a religious complex located at Bourg-en-Bresse in the Ain département, central France. Made out of monastic buildings in addition to a church, they were built at the beginning of the 16th century by Margaret of Austria, daughter of the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I and Governor of the Habsburg Netherlands. The complex was designed as a dynastic burial place in the tradition of the Burgundian Champmol and Cîteaux Abbey, and the French Saint-Denis. The church is known as the Église Saint-Nicolas-de-Tolentin de Brou in French.

The Municipal Museum of Bourg-en-Bresse, also known as the Brou Museum, is a museum founded in 1854. It has been housed in one of the wings of the second of the three cloisters of the Royal Monastery of Brou since 1922. It has a rich collection of paintings, especially Flemish and French, from the fifteenth century to modern art. Sculpture is also represented, especially ancient religious sculpture. The museum's main collection consists of 120 paintings donated in the mid-19th century by Thomas Riboud (1765-1835), a lawyer and deputy for the Ain department who saved the abbey from destruction and protected it as a national monument.

Philibert and Marguerite is a sculpture carried out by Richard Serra in 1985. The work carried out following a public order is exhibited in the second of the three cloisters of the Royal Monastery of Brou allowing access to the Municipal Museum of Bourg-en- Bresse. The name of the work refers to Marguerite of Austria who is at the origin of the creation of the royal monastery, intended to welcome the body of his late Maribert II husband of Savoy.

The apothecary of the Hôtel-Dieu de Bourg-en-Bresse is the former pharmacy of the former Hôtel-Dieu dating from the eighteenth century, converted into a museum and located in Bourg-en-Bresse in the Ain. Run by nuns, it closed for good in 1963.
