The Beaulier Residence or House of Human Rights is a building located on Cristóbal Colón Avenue, in the city of Punta Arenas, capital of the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region, Chile. Built in 1936 by the architect Antonio Beaulier as its own residence, between 1973 and 1976 it functioned as the regional headquarters of the Central of the Military Intelligence Service (SIM) that occupied it as a detention and torture center. It was declared a national monument of Chile, in the category of historical monument, by Decree No. 95, of April 11, 2016.

The Sacred Heart Cathedral also called Punta Arenas Cathedral and Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, is a religious building of the Catholic Church which has a Renaissance tower that is dedicated to the order of the Salesians. Its construction began on December 28, 1892, on the plans made by the Father of the Salesian order Juan Bernabe. It is located in the city of Punta Arenas in the region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica in the South American country of Chile.

Lucila Godoy Alcayaga, known by her pseudonym Gabriela Mistral, was a Chilean poet-diplomat, educator, and Catholic. She was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order or Third Franciscan order. She was the first Latin American author to receive a Nobel Prize in Literature in 1945, "for her lyric poetry which, inspired by powerful emotions, has made her name a symbol of the idealistic aspirations of the entire Latin American world". Some central themes in her poems are nature, betrayal, love, a mother's love, sorrow and recovery, travel, and Latin American identity as formed from a mixture of Native American and European influences. Her image is featured on the 5,000 Chilean peso banknote.
