The Casa de las Palmeras is the house that was owned by the Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral. It is located on Francisco de Aguirre Avenue in the commune of La Serena, and at the back is the Gabriela Mistral Regional Library. It was declared a Historical Monument in 1990.
Sight 2: Parque Jardín del Corazón
Parque Jardín del Corazón, also known as Parque Japonés de La Serena, is a park located in the Chilean city of La Serena that was inaugurated in 1994. Its theme is set in Japan and has various plant and animal species from that country. Built on a 26,000-square-meter site, it is the largest Japanese park in South America. It is a Karesansui contemplation park with a mountain and water landscape.

Sight 7: Centro Histórico de La Serena
Plan Serena was a major urbanistic project in the Chilean city of La Serena which included restoring the old city, building new public schools and new buildings for several public services. The project took place between 1948 and 1952 and left La Serena with its characteristic neocolonial architecture style. The works were not restricted to La Serena but included the whole province including the port city of Coquimbo. The project took place during the presidency of Gabriel González Videla, a native of La Serena.

It was declared a National Monument of Chile, in the category of Historical Monument, through Decree No. 933, of November 24, 1977, and since 2010 it houses a cultural center dedicated to religious heritage.
