Of Romanesque origin, it was built between the eleventh and twelfth centuries, although it underwent subsequent transformations and was finally completely rebuilt in 1958, due to its ruinous state. The Carmen Thyssen Museum Andorra is located on the ground floor of the old Hostal Valira, located in Les Escaldes, in the parish of Escaldes-Engordany, Andorra. It was inaugurated on March 16, 2017 with the exhibition "Scenarios" including twenty-six works by artists such as Ramon Casas, Paul Gauguin, Hermen Anglada Camarasa and Richard Estes. It is nourished by the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection, with a collection made up of works from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as works from the sixteenth century to the present.
