1. General Grant Tree

General Grant Tree

The General Grant tree is the largest giant sequoia in the General Grant Grove section of Kings Canyon National Park in California, and the second largest giant sequoia tree in the world after the General Sherman tree. Once thought to be well over 2,000 years old, recent estimates suggest the General Grant tree is closer to 1,650 years old. The tree also features the third largest footprint of any living giant sequoia, measuring 107.6 ft (32.8 m) in circumference at ground level.

2. Boyden Cave

Boyden Cavern is a show cave located in the Giant Sequoia National Monument of the Sequoia National Forest, along the Kings Canyon Scenic Byway in Fresno County, California. It is just west of Kings Canyon National Park.

3. Mount Solomons

Mount Solomons is a peak in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the U.S. state of California. It rises to 13,040 feet (3,975 m) directly above Muir Pass. Mount Solomons was named after Theodore Solomons, an explorer of the Sierra Nevada mountains, who mapped and established what is now the northern half of John Muir Trail.

4. Mendel Glacier

Mendel Glacier is on the north side of Mount Mendel in the Sierra Nevada, California. The name is commonly used; however, the name is not recognized by the United States Geological Survey in the Geographic Names Information System. Mendel Glacier is .35 miles (0.56 km) north of Darwin Glacier at 12,500 feet (3,800 m) above sea level.

5. Bear Mountain

Bear Mountain is a peak in the Sierra Nevada foothills, near Yokuts Valley, California. In the early 1900s a fire lookout tower was constructed on the mountain, now the site is mostly used to support communications equipment.
