1. Pfarrkirche St. Mauritius

The parish church of St. Mauritius is the Roman Catholic parish church of the village of Appenzell. It is consecrated to St. Mauritius, the patron saint of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. The first building at this location was built around 1068/1069. In the course of its history, the church was expanded or rebuilt several times. Her current appearance received her today with the construction of the classicist nave between 1824 and 1825; The choir and the tower of the late Gothic church remained intact. The Kunsthalle Ziegelhütte is a museum and cultural center in Appenzell.
