Sant Joan Sesrovires

Sant Joan Sesrovires is a church protected as a cultural asset of local interest in the village of Torre-ramona, next to the cemetery. The first document in which it is mentioned dates from 1325, is the burial concession made by Bishop Ponç de Gualba to Berenguer de Corbins in the cemetery of the church of Sant Joan, suffragan of the parish of Sant Pere de Subirats. In 1930 the rector of Sant Pere de Subirats, due to the ruinous state of the rectory, settled in the Torre-ramona; it was then that Sant Joan took on parish functions, although it continued to be a suffragan of the castle church.

The name comes from an old watchtower of small dimensions, which served to guard the road during the High Middle Ages, of which there are some remains next to the telegraph tower. It was part of the civil optical telegraph line from Madrid to La Jonquera. The previous tower was that of Vilafranca del Penedès, and the next one was the Torre de l'Ordal, in Subirats.
