The Salamander is a sawmill in the Dutch town of Leidschendam. The mill was built in 1777 as a replacement for a burnt-out predecessor from the seventeenth century. It was in operation until 1953. The rotating motion of the mill is transmitted to the sawing area by means of drive belts, where awnings attached to the crankshaft set the two saw frames in motion. The Salamander has a crankshaft with four cranks, but only two of them are used. The two saw frames are linked to this. From the end of the 19th century, a steam engine was used to make it possible to cut even when there was no wind. This steam engine was fired with waste wood.

The Ondermolen Nieuwe Driemanspolder is part of the Molendriegang near the Dutch town of Leidschendam. This first stage of the mill walk has a delivery height of 1.35 m. The predecessor of this mill was built in 1672 together with the two other mills for the purpose of draining the Nieuwe Driemanspolder. On July 11, 1902, the mill burned down after being struck by lightning. The current mill was completed a year later. The mill has been equipped with a centrifugal pump since 1945. In 1951 the mill was stopped. A pumping station took over the task of the mills, and in addition, the installation of the centrifugal pump in this mill had created an imbalance in the drainage. Since 1958, the mills have been owned by the province of South Holland. In 2006 another pump was installed in the mill, bringing the three-speed system back into balance.
