La Galera is a mountain on the island of Elba, located in the western part of the island and part of the Monte Capanne chain. The toponym, attested for the first time in a cartography of 1780 as Monte della Galera, could derive from the pastoral enclosures (goats) present in the area, which "could appear, in the eyes of the locals, as fatal places of confinement". The summit, characterized by a vast conchoidal cliff 57 meters high, is located between Monte Capanne and Tavola.
