The Sanctuary of the Holy Crucifix is a religious building located in Cosenza, in the south-west of the city, at 258 meters above sea level. The convent-church complex is commonly called "Reformation" because from the eighteenth century it was a convent of the Reformed Friars, one of the many Franciscan families. These fostered devotion to the simulacrum of the Most Holy Crucifix, which from then on proved to be miraculous. This devotion was increased by the Capuchin Friars, to the point that, from Cosenza and elsewhere, today they identify the church where it is venerated with the name of "sanctuary of the SS.mo Crucifix" or more simply "church of the Crucifix", even though it is dedicated to Mary Most Holy of Constantinople.
