The Ochsenturm in Oberwesel, a Rhineland-Palatinate town on the Middle Rhine in the Rhein-Hunsrück district, is part of the remaining medieval city fortifications. The Round Tower was, next to the Round Tower of the city of Andernach, the strongest fortified tower of the region's city fortifications at the time and was built in the middle of the 14th century. It is one of the 16 former 22 defensive towers of Oberwesel that still exist today, which were created in several construction phases and belonged to a city-wide ring wall. Today, this is considered the best-preserved city wall on the Middle Rhine
