1. Hydraulischer Widder

Show sight on map

A hydraulic ram pump, ram pump, or hydram is a cyclic water pump powered by hydropower. It takes in water at one "hydraulic head" (pressure) and flow rate, and outputs water at a higher hydraulic head and lower flow rate. The device uses the water hammer effect to develop pressure that allows a portion of the input water that powers the pump to be lifted to a point higher than where the water originally started. The hydraulic ram is sometimes used in remote areas, where there is both a source of low-head hydropower and a need for pumping water to a destination higher in elevation than the source. In this situation, the ram is often useful, since it requires no outside source of power other than the kinetic energy of flowing water.

2. Klosterkirche Sankt Annen

The monastery church of St. Annen was the church of the Kamenz Franciscan convent. After the dissolution of the monastery, it was used for the Protestant worship of the Sorbian inhabitants. Since August 2011, the room has been used for church purposes, concerts and events as well as for the presentation of sacred works of art from the churches of Kamenz under the name of the Monastery Church and Sacral Museum of St. Anne. A restrained, new extension is used by the tourist information. In 2014, the "exemplary cooperation between the parish and the municipality", the "striking combination of old and new architectural language" and the "rich, at the same time nobly restrained presentation of several winged altars and precious furnishings" were honoured with the 1st prize of the Foundation for the Preservation of Ecclesiastical Monuments in Germany.

7. Eulenfelsen

Show sight on map

The Eulenfelsen is one of several geological outcrops in the city area and on the outskirts of Kamenz, which are formed by greywackes of the Kamenz series and have been placed under protection as geological natural monuments. Further outcrops can be found on the Teufelsberg, the Gickelsberg and the Kuckucksburg. In the slope outcrop at the Eulenfelsen, the alternating bedding between granular greywackes and dense, schist varieties is particularly striking. With the ordinance of the Bautzen District Office on the establishment of the "Eulenfelsen" area natural monument of 1 December 2011, the rocks have been protected as an area natural monument since 15 February 2012.
