This page lists the monuments in the Middle Franconian district capital of Ansbach. This table is a partial list of the List of monuments in Bavaria. The basis is the Bavarian List of Monuments, which was first compiled on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of 1 October 1973 and has since been managed by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments. The following information does not replace the legally binding information of the monument protection authority. This list gives the update status of 14 January 2022 and contains 470 monuments.
2. St. Gumbertus
The church St. Gumbertus is one of the central city churches of Ansbach, Bavaria, together with the neighboring St. Johannis. Located in the Altstadt of Ansbach, St. Gumbertus, now a Lutheran church, was originally the church of a monastery that was founded by St. Gumbert around 750. Today it serves as a venue for concerts of the music festival Bachwoche Ansbach. The church contains the oldest structures in Ansbach and is considered Ansbach's city symbol.
3. St. Ludwig
St. Ludwig is a Roman Catholic parish church in Ansbach, Germany. The classicist hall church was built between 1834 and 1840 according to plans by Leonhard Schmidtner. It belongs to the Archdiocese of Bamberg and is a listed building.
4. Retti-Palais
The so-called Retti-Palais is a representative late Baroque building in the Middle Franconian residential town of Ansbach. The building, originally designed by the Lombard architect Leopoldo Retti as a separate residence, was completed in 1749.
5. Anscavallo
The Anscavallo is a sculpture located on Ansbach's Schlossplatz. It was built by sculptor Jürgen Goertz. He erected the sculpture as a result of an ideas competition for the design of the square near the main entrance of the residence on 25 July 1993. The name consists of Ans- as a word component of Ansbach and -cavallo, which means horse in Italian and is also intended to refer to the cavalry.
