Sightseeing Tours in Plailly

1. Église Saint-Martin

Show sight on map

The Saint-Martin church is a parish Catholic church located in Plailly, France. Built during the 1160s and 1170s in the primitive Gothic style, it received at the beginning of the century following a new pre-ray-style choir, the three traveled of the bedside form a transverse vessel of the same height. In both cases, the Saint-Martin church is at the top of the innovative movements of the architecture of its time, and as certain analogies indicate, draws its influences from the construction sites of Notre-Dame de Senlis and Notre- Lady of Paris. The nave provided to remain covered with a simple frame is characterized by large broken arcades falling on the remarkable capitals of large isolated cylindrical pillars. In the choir, three similar pillars serve as support for the supports of the upper order, in the form of column bundles. This superposition is an original and elegant solution characterizing the Plailly choir, as is the vast well -lit space of the transverse vessel, contrasting with the constant darkness prevailing in the nave. The fine octagonal stone arrow of the second half of the 13th century, on the other hand, brings a note of refinement in the sobriety from the outside of the church. As a remarkable example of the first Gothic architecture, it was classified as historic monuments by list of 1862. It is today at the center of the Saint-Esprit parish of the Serval.
