The equestrian monument to Carlo Alberto is a bronze sculptural group erected in 1843 in the current Piazza Mazzini, in the center of Casale Monferrato, in the province of Alessandria, then part of the Kingdom of Sardinia. It was commissioned in 1838 by the administration of Casale in honor of Carlo Alberto di Savoia, King of Sardinia, for having elevated the city to the seat of the Senate in 1837. It is the work of the Milanese sculptor Abbondio Sangiorgio (1798-1879); the base is by the Bolognese Pelagio Palagi (1775-1869); the bronze casting was carried out in the Milan foundry of Luigi Manfredini.
