1. St. Theresia von Avila

Show sight on map

The Church of St. Theresa of Avila is a Roman Catholic church in Mülheim-Selbeck, Germany. From 1303 to 1927, the church of the diocese of Essen belonged to the parish of Mintard. The strong industrial boom caused by the Selbeck ore mines and the associated influx of miners led to the planning of a Catholic church. Count Hubertus Spee zu Linnep donated the necessary land and the "Selbeck Mining Association" financed the planned church construction. In the course of time, the boundaries of the communities have also been changed many times. On 27 June 1890, construction work began according to the plans of the Strasbourg master builder Franz Schmitz. On September 8, 1892, Cardinal Philipp Krementz consecrated the church in Selbeck.
