Show sight on map

The aqueduct bridge in Vollen was part of the Roman Eifel aqueduct, which supplied the Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium, the ancient Cologne, with drinking water, and lies between the villages of Vollen and Urfey. The aqueduct bridge is almost completely preserved and transported the water of the source areas Grüner Pütz and Klausbrunnen over the ancient Kallmuther Bach towards Cologne. It was one of the many smaller bridges of the Eifel aqueduct, which served to overcome streams. A small distance downstream, the line coming from the source area in Urfey hit the canal. The water was then transported in the vaulted underground channel through the Veybach valley to the reservoir in Eiserfey.
