1. Alamannenmuseum Ellwangen

The Alamanni Museum Ellwangen in Ellwangen was opened in 2001 and provides a vivid overview of 500 years of Alemannic history from the early Middle Ages with finds from all over southern Germany. Due to the difficult budget situation of the city of Ellwangen, the city council discussed the closure of the museum in 2010. The Alamanni Museum is open from Tuesday to Friday between 2 pm and 5 pm and on Saturday and Sunday between 1 pm and 5 pm.

2. Schloss ob Ellwangen

The castle above Ellwangen served from 1460 the prince provosts of the prince provost Ellwangen as a residence and manor house and from 1802/1803 to 1842 as an electoral or royal residence. It was originally built around 1200 as a fortified castle of the Ellwangen Abbey, which at that time was already directly under the Empire.

The Halheim Kastell is a Roman border castle close to the Rätische Limes, which has had the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005. The former Numeruskastell is now located near Pfahlheim/Halheim, a district of Ellwangen in the Ostalbkreis, Baden-Württemberg.
