The Altensteiner Höhle is located below the Altensteiner Park in the Schweina district of the town of Bad Liebenstein in Thuringia. It is considered the longest cave in Thuringia. It was discovered in 1799 during the construction of the road to Altenstein Castle and expanded by the spring of 1802 as the oldest show cave in Thuringia. The public entrance of the cave is located below the road from Schweina to Altenstein Castle.
2. Lutherdenkmal
The Luther monument near Steinbach is a cultural monument, it was erected in 1857 at the instigation of Duke Bernhard Erich Freund of Saxe-Meiningen and commemorates the feigned capture of Martin Luther on 4 May on his way back from the Diet of Worms (1521) to Wittenberg by soldiers of Elector Frederick the Wise. Luther was brought to the Wartburg and translated the Bible into German in a short time.
3. Schloss Altenstein
Schloss Altenstein is a schloss, or palace, upon a rocky hill on the south-western slope of the Thuringian Forest, not far from Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany. It was the summer residence of the Dukes of Saxe-Meiningen, and is surrounded by 160 hectares of English landscape garden, which contain, among other objects of interest, a cavern 300 metres long, through which flows a large and rapid stream.
