1. svatý Václav

The Church of St. Wenceslas is a former Dominican church in Opava, Slovakia. It was built on the site of an older sacral building in connection with the foundation of the Dominican monastery in Opava by the Opava prince Nicholas I. Its construction took place in two stages for more than 40 years and the completed church was consecrated in 1336 by the Olomouc bishop Jan VII Volek. The consecration of the church to St. Wenceslas was chosen at the request of the founder to emphasize the belonging of the Opava princes to the Přemyslid dynasty. At present, it is owned by the town of Opava and is used for organizing social, cultural and educational events such as concerts, exhibitions, artistic performances, social gatherings, gatherings and wedding ceremonies. Together with the Dominican monastery, it is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic under the registration number 34629/8-1307.
